Booking and appointments

Can I book online?

Yes. You can book online at any time, or call 778-727-0810 if you would rather talk it through first.

Will I get treatment at my first appointment?

Yes. Your first appointment starts with an assessment, and treatment begins in the same visit.

Will you tell me how many visits I need?

Yes. It depends on whether you are coming in for prevention, an acute injury or a longer-standing problem. Once your physiotherapist has assessed you, they will have a much better idea of how many treatments it will take.

Will I get exercises to do between appointments?

Yes. Everyone leaves with a plan to work on between visits. How that plan reaches you depends on your physiotherapist, so ask yours what works best for you.

Do you charge for late cancellations?

Yes. We ask for 24 hours notice. If you cancel inside that window, you are responsible for the full fee of the appointment, unless we are able to fill the spot with another booking.

Is the first physiotherapy appointment longer than a follow-up?

Yes. An initial assessment is 45 minutes at $150.00 or 60 minutes at $175.00, while follow-up visits start at 30 minutes from $105.00.

Hours and getting here

Are you open on weekends?

Are you open on Sundays?

Yes. We are open every Sunday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, the same hours as the rest of the week.

Can I get a physiotherapy appointment in the evening?

Yes. We are open until 8:00 PM seven days a week, so you can book after work.

Are you open on statutory holidays?

Yes. We are open 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on statutory holidays.

Are you located in downtown Vancouver?

Yes. We are at 970 Burrard Street, Suite 209, Vancouver, BC V6Z 2R4. Our contact page has transit and parking details.

Is the building locked in the evening?

Yes. After 6pm on weekdays, and all day at weekends and on statutory holidays, the Electra Building doors are locked. Use buzzer 001 and we will let you in. There is elevator access throughout the building.

Cost, insurance and ICBC

Do you direct bill my insurance?

Yes. We submit claims directly to your insurer at the time of your appointment when your extended health plan allows it. Coverage, annual limits and the amount paid are set by your plan.

Do I pay at the end of my appointment?

Yes. If you are using your extended health plan, we bill the plan directly and charge any remaining copay to the credit card on file. If you are paying by cash or credit card, we collect it at the end of your appointment.

Do you take ICBC claims?

Yes. We handle ICBC claims directly, and our ICBC physiotherapy page explains how the process works.

Is there a user fee for ICBC physiotherapy?

No. There is no user fee or copay for ICBC-approved physiotherapy. We bill ICBC directly and you pay nothing out of pocket for those visits.

Treatment

Do I need a doctor’s referral to see a physiotherapist?

No. In British Columbia you can book physiotherapy directly, without a referral.

Is IMS the same as dry needling?

Yes. IMS, or intramuscular stimulation, is a dry needling technique physiotherapists use on tight, painful muscles, as part of a full physiotherapy plan.

Do you bill MSP?

No. We are not set up to bill MSP, so physiotherapy here is paid for privately, through your extended health plan, or through ICBC or WorkSafeBC if you are recovering from a motor vehicle accident or a workplace injury.

Will you tell me how much my extended health plan covers?

No. We cannot see your coverage. We only find out what your plan pays when we submit the claim after your treatment, so your plan is the only one who can tell you exactly what you are covered for. Call them or check your account online before your appointment.

Can I get a same-day physiotherapy appointment?

Yes. We often have same-day appointments. Call 778-727-0810 and we will find you the earliest spot, including evenings and weekends.

Can a video appointment actually help my problem?

Yes. Assessment, diagnosis, exercise prescription and progress reviews all work well over video. If we need hands on you for manual therapy or IMS, your physiotherapist will tell you at the first session and get you in.

Can I contact my physiotherapist between appointments?

Yes. Call 778-727-0810 or email info@vancouverphysiotherapyhub.com and reception will pass your question on to your physiotherapist.

Do I need to bring anything to my first appointment?

Yes. Bring your extended health or ICBC details if you have them, and wear or bring clothes you can move in. If we are looking at a knee or a hip, shorts help. Nothing else is needed.

Will I need physiotherapy forever?

No. Most people come for a set course of treatment and then stop. Your physiotherapist will tell you when you no longer need to come in, and will give you what you need to keep the progress on your own. If you choose to continue for preventive care, this will be discussed with your physiotherapist and they can outline a plan for future care.

Is physiotherapy supposed to hurt?

No. Physiotherapy is not supposed to hurt. Hands-on work on a stiff joint, needling, or the first few repetitions of a new exercise can feel strong or tender while it is happening, and some muscle soreness the next day is normal, much like after a workout. Sharp or lasting pain is not part of treatment. Tell your physiotherapist what you are feeling at any point and they will adjust the pressure, the technique or the plan.
