Our Objective

Our objective is this: we want to not only treat your pain, but prevent it from recurring. We look to identify the root cause of your issues and then, using techniques and strategies like biodynamic physiotherapy, BPPV treatment, neurological retraining, balance enhancement training, fall prevention and more.

In addition, our physiotherapists know that craniosacral physiotherapy is most effective when used in a multidisciplinary approach. As part of Electra Health, we can provide you with referrals for other treatments – such as massage therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic care, stretch therapy – to make sure that you get back to feeling your best!

What Can I Expect From My Session?

At your initial appointment, you will meet with Simina or Maria to review your health history in detail. During the assessment, he or she will ask you about any current or past conditions or injuries, while also performing a series of special tests, and range of motion tests, to determine a diagnosis for your issue.

After this, your physiotherapist will perform treatment to alleviate your symptoms and the cause of your condition. Our physiotherapists treat you – and only you – for the entirety of your session. They have post-graduate training in a variety of different techniques, including biodynamic physiotherapy, neurological retraining, balance enhancement treatment, BPPV and more. Depending on your issue, he or she will use a combination of these techniques alongside manual therapy and exercise prescription.

You will also be equipped with a treatment plan, including a schedule for follow-up appointments, exercise prescription, an at-home stretching and strengthening plan, and any additional tips to support you outside of the treatment room.

In certain instances, our physiotherapists may recommend complimentary types of treatment – such as chiropractic care, massage therapy and acupuncture. Because Vancouver Physiotherapy Hub is part of a larger multidisciplinary clinic called Electra Health, getting access to these treatments is easy!

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect from Craniosacral therapy?

Craniosacral therapy is a technique that uses light, gentle touch to examine the fascia and fluids surrounding your central nervous system to identify restrictions and areas of tension. Once identified, our physiotherapists use subtle, but powerful, movements to release the tension.

When this happens, the body’s central nervous system – which includes your brain and spinal cord – relaxes, which boosts circulation, increases your energy and most importantly, relieves your pain.

What is Craniosacral therapy used for?

Because of its influence over your central nervous system, craniosacral therapy is effective for  a diverse set of issues, including, but not limited to:

  • TMJ disorder
  • central nervous system disorders
  • chronic neck and back pain
  • migraines
  • concussion and TBIs
  • anxiety
  • vertigo
  • sciatica
Does insurance cover Craniosacral therapy?

Yes! Our craniosacral therapy is performed by a registered physiotherapist. If you have extended health insurance, this treatment is covered. We also provide direct billing!

We always recommend that you check with your insurance provider about the extent of your coverage.

What does Craniosacral therapy feel like?

Craniosacral therapy is incredibly gentle, and oftentimes, it is hard to feel the changes as they are happening. Your therapist applies what feels like light pressure to certain areas to release fascial tension. But while the pressure can feel light, many patients leave the treatment room describing an intense feeling of relaxation, renewed mobility, increased energy levels and more mental clarity. And the benefits are continuously felt over subsequent days.

At Vancouver Physiotherapy Hub, our physiotherapists are experts in craniosacral therapy. They aim to not only treat your pain, but to target the root issues, so that you can stay feeling your best. With a vast amount of experience in post-graduate training, seeing our physiotherapists for cranial sacral therapy means that you really are in the best care!

I was dealing with a rare condition causing some facial paralysis. Christina Wong is so helpful and caring about her patients. She helped me understand the road to recovery, massage techniques and ways to activate my facial nerves and facial muscles and what to expect with the symptoms I felt as I healed. My condition made me anxious and I found that few people in medicine understand it fully. Thankfully I talked with Christina who specializes in facial muscular nerve retraining so I could relax and allow myself to heal without stress. God bless her.
