Vancouver Physiotherapy Hub helps patients understand how extended health insurance applies to physiotherapy before their first appointment. Our clinic is located at 970 Burrard Street, Suite 209, Vancouver, BC V6Z 2R4, and we are open Monday to Sunday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. You can reach reception at 778-727-0810.
How Extended Health Direct Billing Works
Where direct billing is available, we submit the eligible portion of your physiotherapy appointment to your insurer on your behalf, so you are not left to claim it back yourself.
We submit claims through TELUS Health eClaims, and we also direct bill Sun Life, Pacific Blue Cross and Green Shield Canada. Availability still depends on your individual plan. Your insurer decides what is eligible, how much is payable and whether a claim can be submitted electronically at all.
Direct billing is an administrative service. It is not a guarantee of payment, and you remain responsible for any amount your insurer does not pay.
What to Confirm Before Your Appointment
Your insurer is the only source that can confirm your coverage. Before your visit, it is worth checking:
- Whether physiotherapy is covered under your plan
- Your annual maximum for physiotherapy
- Any per-visit limit or percentage your plan pays
- Any deductible you need to meet first
- Whether your plan requires a doctor’s referral for reimbursement
- Whether your plan permits electronic claim submission by the clinic
What to Bring
- Government-issued photo identification
- Your insurance card or plan information
- Your policy, plan, member or certificate number
- The primary policyholder’s name and date of birth, if you are covered through a spouse, parent or household member
- Any referral, imaging or care instructions relevant to your visit
- Comfortable clothing for your assessment
What You May Need to Pay
Even where direct billing is available, you may be responsible for:
- Deductibles
- Copayments or coinsurance
- Amounts above a per-visit limit
- Amounts above your annual maximum
- User fees charged by your plan
- Services your plan excludes
- Appointments missed without notice
- Any difference between our fees and what your plan pays
If you hold more than one plan, we can submit to one insurer per appointment. We will provide a receipt for any remaining balance so you can submit it to a second plan yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a doctor’s referral for physiotherapy?
Vancouver Physiotherapy Hub does not require a referral. Some extended health plans ask for one before they will reimburse, so check your own policy before booking.
Can you direct bill every insurer?
No. Availability depends on your insurer, your plan type and whether that plan permits electronic submission. Provide your insurance details before your appointment and reception can tell you which route applies.
Will I have to pay anything at my appointment?
Possibly. You are responsible for any amount your insurer does not pay, including deductibles, copayments, per-visit limits and anything above your annual maximum.
Can I combine extended health with an ICBC or WorkSafeBC claim?
These are handled as separate pathways rather than combined. If you have an open ICBC or WorkSafeBC claim, please contact reception before booking so the correct pathway is set up for you.
How do I book?
You can book online, or call reception at 778-727-0810 if you would like to confirm your billing route first.
