If you have been injured in a motor vehicle accident, this page explains how ICBC physiotherapy billing, eligibility and booking work at Vancouver Physiotherapy Hub. Our clinic is at 970 Burrard Street, Suite 209, Vancouver, BC V6Z 2R4, open Monday to Sunday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
For a clinical explanation of how we treat motor vehicle accident injuries, see our ICBC physiotherapy treatment page.
Eligibility and the First 12 Weeks
Following a crash, ICBC generally provides access to pre-approved treatment during the first 12 weeks after the accident date. Physiotherapy is among the treatments included.
You do not need a doctor’s referral to begin eligible treatment. Your ICBC claim number is the key item to have ready. If you still need care after the pre-approval period, your health care providers can recommend an extension for further treatment, which ICBC assesses separately.
Coverage, the number of approved treatments and any further approval all depend on your individual claim and its current status. Please treat the above as general guidance rather than confirmation of your own entitlement.
What to Have Ready
- Your ICBC claim number
- Your Personal Health Number
- The date of your accident
- Your full name and date of birth
- Your ICBC recovery specialist’s details, if you have them
- Government-issued photo identification
- Any imaging, referrals or care instructions relevant to your injuries
- Comfortable clothing for your assessment
How Billing Works
For eligible appointments, Vancouver Physiotherapy Hub can bill ICBC directly, so you are not asked to pay for approved treatment and claim it back.
Direct billing is an administrative service and not a guarantee of payment. Where ICBC does not fund a particular appointment, or where treatment falls outside what has been approved, you remain responsible for the balance. Charges may also apply for appointments missed without notice.
If your extended health plan is also involved, these are handled as separate pathways rather than combined. Reception can explain which applies before you book.
Booking an ICBC Appointment
Please call reception before booking an ICBC appointment. We will confirm your claim details, place you with an appropriate physiotherapist and set up the correct billing route. This avoids the delays that happen when an ICBC appointment is booked as a standard private visit.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
Not to begin eligible treatment under ICBC. Your claim number is what reception needs.
Will I have to pay anything?
For approved treatment within your claim, generally not. You remain responsible for anything ICBC does not fund, for treatment outside what has been approved, and for appointments missed without notice.
What happens after the pre-approved period?
Your providers can recommend an extension for further treatment. ICBC assesses that request; continued funding is not automatic.
Can I book online instead of calling?
We ask ICBC patients to call first so the claim and billing route are set up correctly before the appointment is made.
